Murray’s wife makes pregnancy promise as Brit closes in on retirement

Andy Murray’s wife has shared the reason she promised not to get pregnant anymore after having four children with the tennis star. Kim Murray has kept a low profile throughout her 18-year relationship with the world No 42 but recently spoke out after renovating Cromlix – the hotel she owns with Andy. And she explained how her new love of interior design fed into her pregnancy promise.

Kim has been with Andy since 2005, with the pair getting married in 2015. They have four children together, with their youngest daughter Lola born in early 2021. But they have now ruled out having more kids, with Mrs Murray revealing the unusual reason she “promised” not to get pregnant anymore.

The 35-year-old recently helped to renovate Cromlix Hotel in Andy’s home of Dunblane, a hotel the couple bought ten years ago. Speaking to The Times, Kim explained that her eye for interior design came from doing up her family home with a team of designers – which was often set back by her pregnancies.

“I found the place that we demolished and rebuilt when Sophia was four months old,” she said of their Surrey home. “We moved in when our youngest, Lola, was three months, so it bookended my babies.”

As well as seven-year-old Sophia and two-year-old Lola, Kim and Andy are also parents to Edie, five, and Teddy, three. Sharing the process of their five-year home renovation, Kim continued: “It was a big project and I worked with an amazing team.

“The number of decisions I had to make and my ability to make them quickly was learnt during that process. I had to tell the architect I was pregnant three times during the course of the building works.”

And it was her final pregnancy with Lola that made the daughter of famous tennis coach Nigel Sears vow not to have another child. “For the last one we’d finalised the scheme for the extra guest room, which we then had to turn into a nursery for Lola,” she added. “They made me promise not to get pregnant again!”

Her vow comes as the three-time Major champion continues the final playing years of his career – with retirement somewhat near. While the former world No 1 has confirmed that he isn’t thinking about the end of his career, Andy knows that time is running out and recently shared his hopes of playing the French Open while he still could, after competing in the event just once in the last six years.

“I would like to play, you know, just purely because, yeah, I don’t know if I’ll get another opportunity to play again. Whilst I feel fit and healthy, I would like to give it a go,” he said after his first-round exit in Madrid.

And Murray was able to bounce back last week in Aix-en-Provence, where he picked up the Challenger title for his first trophy in four years. It will be a nice boost for his plans of playing Roland Garros, and with the win he now sits at No 42 in the world – his highest ranking since 2018.
