British rapper Big Narstie amusingly mixes up Emma Raducanu and Nwankwo Kanu

Do you know that feeling when you get an FA Cup-winning striker mixed up with an 19-year-old tennis champion?

Rapper Big Narstie certainly does, after agreeing to take part in a Christmas advert for retailer Sports Direct because he thought it would give him the chance to meet former Arsenal and Portsmouth forward Nwankwo Kanu.

The MC-turned-TV presenter was one of a number of famous faces hired to appear in the advert alongside the likes of athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and rugby star Maro Itoje.

A swathe of footballers can also be spotted in the clip, including England quartet Jack Grealish, Jordan Pickford, Declan Rice and Mason Mount.

Another name Big Narstie thought was going to be on that list was the retired Nigerian striker Kanu, but it turned out he had mis-heard when he had been told who he would be appearing with.

Instead of the former Arsenal star, it was US Open champion Emma Raducanu who would be making a cameo in the advert.

The rapper explained what had happened on Channel 4's 'The Big Narstie Show'.

"They said, 'Yeah you're gonna be with Kanu', so I’m like, 'This is gonna be lit'", he told 'The Big Narstie Show', according to The Sun.

"I'm in this ting now and I was like, 'Where's Kanu?' And you know it was a girl.

"Do you know how mad I was bruv? It was this girl, she's a big superstar tennis player. I didn’t hear the Emma Radu part, all I heard was Kanu."

While the end of their names sound phonetically similar, Raducanu and Kanu share few other similarities.

The youngster is still very much at the beginning of her tennis career, despite having shot to worldwide stardom with her shock Grand Slam success in New York two months ago.

Raducanu has found it relatively tough since and ended her season with a defeat to the world number 106 at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz, but the future remains very bright for the young Brit.

While she has a lot of time to add to her first great sporting achievement in the years to come, footballer Kanu's record is very much set in stone.

Now aged 45, the Nigerian has long been retired from the game but achieved a great deal with several of Europe's top teams.

After being signed by Ajax in his youth, he appeared in the Dutch giants' 1995 Champions League final success before moving on to Inter Milan.

He was captain as Nigeria won gold at the 1996 Olympics and overcame a heart defect to continue his career.

More than 100 appearances for Arsenal followed, during which time he was a member of the famous 'Invincibles' side before finishing his career with spells at West Brom and Portsmouth.

It was while playing for the south coast side that he scored the only goal of the 2008 FA Cup final.
