Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis is waiting on a Kmart delivery ahead of his round two clash after winning at the Aus open for the first time since 2015.
Battered by injuries and health setbacks, the Aussie took to the court on Tuesday without a sponsor sporting a $6 Kmart tee.
Asked about his get up afterwards he said: “Mate, Kmart special! I went to Chadstone, bought some $6 tees and went to work! I just felt comfortable in it.
“I’ve tried to order more online but they got cancelled, they didn’t make it through to South Yarra. It’s tough out here man, it’s not what it used to be! If I feel good out there and feel like I look good, I’ll try and play good!”
Kokkinakis defeated Korean world number 92 Soonwoo Kwon 6- 4, 6- 1 6-1.
The victory was an emotional one for the star who was reduced to tears afterwards.
Here’s to hoping the Kmart package arrives in time for his next round clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas
