TAB back and running smoothly at Morphettville part two of Saturday meeting

The universe was back in balance at Morphettville on Monday with the TAB running smoothly throughout the day and punters able to bet with confidence.

Seven races aborted from last Saturday’s scheduled nine-race card were held over until Monday after no assurances could be given as to when the TAB would be fully operational on the weekend.

With two races down on Saturday authorities deemed it appropriate to postpone the remainder of the meeting until Monday.

As expected the crowd was sparse but punters were on the mark early with the well-backed Journica saluting narrowly for Gordon Richards, trainer of super sprinter Gytrash, after being backed from $7.50 into $5.

Apprentice Teaghan Voorham was successful in the first with a perfect ride and she was followed by fellow claimer Jessica Eaton in the following event, guiding home $3.80 favourite Magna Bella to a clear-cut victory.

The young rider had been terribly unlucky on favourite Frankie Pinot in the opening race when unable to get clear running anywhere down the straight before finishing fifth however it was smooth sailing on Magna Bella as she jumped to the front and led throughout to win easily.

Punters were again spot on in the third on the card with the well backed Exalted Zoe kicking away for an impressive win while there were some dramas in the following race, with Left Hand Man firing up outside the leader which caused the saddle to fall off nearing the turn.

Formlines around Journica stood up in the $100,000 feature after Magnetic Edge let down a powerful sprint to run down Renegade while Jessica Eaton chalked up a double with another perfect ride aboard Like A Heartbeat riding the gelding cold before pouncing on them in the straight to score by 2-1/2 lengths.

While the apprentice jockeys dominated the majority of the card, it was Jason Holder who snared victory in the last aboard winning machine Star Hills. The topweight relished the quick tempo set up front and ran over the top of them to notch a fifth straight win.
