Classique Legend was already a slot holder in The Everest but the grey has raced his way right into contention for the $15m race with a sublime performance to win The Shorts at Randwick.
Trainer Les Bridge labelled Classique Legend “the best horse I have ever trained”, after the race.
Bridge admitted he thought the horse was “a bit underdone” but still wasn’t surprised that he was able to charge clear and win easily under two time The Everest winner Kerrin McEvoy.
Eduardo fought on well for second and put his name well and truly forward for a slot in The Everest after racing wide while Bivouac also wasn’t disgraced finishing third after being in a bumping dual topping the rise.
