Buttler says Ali will be a "huge miss" after his retirement from Test cricket

England star Jos Buttler has paid tribute to Moeen Ali after the all-rounder announced his retirement from Test match cricket last week.

Buttler said Moeen will be a "huge miss" for England and that the all-rounder is "right at the top of the list" of players that you want to play cricket with.

Speaking at an event at Sixes Cricket Club, where he was unveiled as the official ambassador of Booking.com 's sponsorship of the ICC T20 World Cup, Buttler said: "He'll be a huge miss.

"I think with the reaction to that news you see how many people have said what a great guy he is.

"Obviously we all know what a talented player he is on the field and the impact that he's had on so many games for England, winning Test matches.

"If you were to say who you want to play cricket with and have in your dressing room, Moeen Ali would be right at the top of the list.

"So he'll be a huge miss for everyone in that team and I congratulate him on a fantastic Test career."

Opening up about his decision to retire, Moeen said: "I'm 34 now and I want to play for as long as I can and I just want to enjoy my cricket.

"Test cricket is amazing, when you’re having a good day it’s better than any other format by far, it’s more rewarding and you feel like you’ve really earnt it.

"I will miss just walking out there with the lads, playing against best in the world with that feeling of nerves but also from a bowling point of view, knowing with my best ball I could get anyone out."

"I’ve enjoyed Test Cricket but that intensity can be too much sometimes and I feel like I’ve done enough of it and I’m happy and content with how I’ve done."
