Pablo Fornals has told West Ham fans to keep on dreaming despite a slow summer on the transfer front.

The Hammers have yet to sign the striker, goalkeeper and defender manager David Moyes is desperately searching for.

And with Jesse Lingard still weighing up whether to stay at Manchester United, they could be forced to turn to West Brom’s Matheus Pereira instead.

But Fornals told fans to dream big at the start of last season – and then helped his team qualify for the Europa League.

Now, the Spain star reckons West Ham can build on that success as they go into the new season.

Fornals said: “Why should we have to stop dreaming? I think that we are in a great position. We did it. We dreamt last season, so why stop?”

Fornals has played Europa League football before with former club Villarreal and insists it could be the making of the Hammers.

He said: “It’s an unbelievable experience, not just for the players – for the players, it’s a hundred per cent – but also for our fans.

“We are one of the biggest teams in London and in England. We have fans around the world, everywhere.

“If we go to play in Spain or Italy or wherever UEFA say, we’re going to have our crowd there. It’s a big moment to keep dreaming.”

The Hammers have cleared space to sign a new goalkeeper by sending youngster Nathan Trott on loan to AS Nancy.

The 22-year-old was part of the first-team squad last season, making his debut in January’s FA Cup third round win over Doncaster.

But West Ham want a more experienced new keeper to put pressure on Lukasz Fabianski.

And they are currently focusing on Alphonse Areola of Paris St-Germain after having a £10m bid turned down for Sam Johnstone of West Brom.
