West Ham fans not sure how to react after Mourinho ‘given remarkable job offer’

West Ham United fans have been arguing amongst themselves after Jose Mourinho was linked to the club.

The Portuguese manager is currently overseeing proceedings at Serie A giants Roma, but his future at the club has become uncertain after he was given his third red card of the campaign. Despite winning the Europa Conference League in his first season, his polarising and divisive nature has brought a veil of uncertainty over his reign.

Mourinho has managed Chelsea on two occasions, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur and has regularly professed his love for the Premier League. But after a report claiming the two-time Champions League winner had been “delivered a remarkable offer” did the rounds on social media, there has been a very mixed response by West Ham fans.

Reports from LaRoma24 claimed the 60-year-old was seriously linked with a move to the Hammers. Current West Ham manager David Moyes has been under fierce pressure with the club currently locked in a tight relegation battle.

While the Hammers are still in the Conference League themselves, they are languishing in 16th position, just one point above the relegation zone. But despite their recent struggles, the prospect of Mourinho taken over has had a very mixed response.

“Our fans would hate him. Boring football,” one West Ham fan commented. However, their point was swiftly countered by another fan who tweeted, “the fans have put up with boring football under Moyes when we were winning. It's a trade off, if you are gonna play boring football be successful with it and the fans will accept it.”

In, shall we say, less eloquent terms, one Hammer wrote, “Yes God damn please” while another fan simply said “no, no, no, no, no, no” – we can’t know for certain, but we imagine that particular supporter is less enthusiastic about Mourinho.

Meanwhile, as is often the case with Mourinho, another conflicted Hammer said, “flattered and annoyed at the same time,” before a very bold anti-Mourinho supporter said, “downgrade on Moyes.”

Roma are currently sitting in the Champions League places in Serie A and face Real Sociedad for a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
