Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has fired a playful comment at England team-mate Jude Bellingham in the wake of his expensive match-fixing outburst.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder made headlines at the weekend when he blasted German referee Felix Zwayer’s match-fixing past following Dortmund’s controversial Bundesliga defeat to title rivals Bayern Munich.

Bellingham was slapped with a £34,000 fine for his remarks – and Mings has now taken the opportunity to poke fun at the media storm whipped up by Bellingham’s comments.

Mings replied to an Instagram post from Bellingham, who was dressed up in a suit and rollneck, with the cheeky comment: “Outfit for court bro?” followed by a trio of laughing emojis.

Mings’ quip is likely to be the final chapter in the debacle after Bellingham was hit with his five-figure fine.

The midfielder was left frustrated after Dortmund’s appeals for a penalty were waved away by Zwayer before he then award Bayern a penalty for handball against Mats Hummel in an ill-tempered ‘Der Klassiker’.

Zwayer was handed a six-month ban back for a match-fixing scandal back in 2005 – and Bellingham wasted no time in bringing that up as he vented his frustrations after the match.

“You give a referee, that has match fixed before, the biggest game in Germany. What do you expect?” questioned Bellingham.

“For me, it wasn’t [a penalty]. He [Hummels] is not even looking at the ball and he’s fighting to get it and it hits him.

“You can look at a lot of the decisions in the game.”

Unsurprisingly, Bellingham’s comments led to the German Football Association issuing a statement outlining that Bellingham had been fined for his remarks.

“The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) fined Jude Bellingham 40,000 euros in single judge proceedings after the DFB control committee had brought charges for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“The player of Borussia Dortmund has already agreed to the judgement and the judgement is now final.”

It remains to be seen how much longer Bellingham will ply his trade in Germany after his recent outburst.

It’s been reported that Dortmund, who are now four points behind Bayern at the summit of the Bundesliga, may struggle to turn down a mammoth offer for the teenage sensation in the summer.

A host of Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the Birmingham City academy graduate; who has flourished during his 18 months at Dortmund.

His rapid progression in Germany has seen him evolve into a full England international, with both Liverpool and Manchester United expected to go head-to-head in the summer to strike a £90million deal for the midfield maestro.
