Timo Werner has been accused of “flirting” with Liverpool. The RB Leipzig forward is a target for Jurgen Klopp ahead of the summer transfer window.
Werner described Klopp as “one of the best managers in the world” after scoring in Saturday’s Bundesliga rout of Schalke.
Former Premier League striker Jan Age Fjortoft believes Werner is attempting to “send a message to Liverpool” about his interest in playing at Anfield.
Fjortoft wrote on Twitter: “My view on Werner.
“He started flirting with Liverpool in my interview with him Wednesday. Today he continues at Sky Germany.

“Remember this is a guy who people thought would NOT abroad. His interviews this week are not a coincidence. He wants to send a message to Liverpool
“Do I think he wants to go to Liverpool? Yes, I do. Do I think Liverpool right now is negotiating with him? No, I don’t.
“Liverpool got 3 fantastic attackers. They are about to do one of the club’s best year. CL, World Cup and PL..why should Klopp and the club make too much noise.
“Werner knows that Klopp rates him. Werner knows that his playing-style is perfect for Liverpool. Werner knows that Klopp is a perfect coach for him.

“Werner’s flirt-strategy with Liverpool is smart. The fans will love him for it. Timo Werner is a good guy by the way. I like his way of speaking openly about this. Wish more players left their cliches at home.”
Werner has also attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea but his praise for Liverpool suggests a move to Anfield is favoured.
“There’s one of the best managers in the world with Jurgen Klopp, and he is also German,” said Werner on Saturday.
“Many things suggest that I would maybe fit in (at Liverpool) very well with my playing style.
“But I don’t think about that at the moment because we have so much to do with Leipzig.”
