Sheffield United relegated from Premier League despite battling in Wolves loss

Sheffield United have been relegated from the Premier League after a two-season spell in the top-flight following their narrow defeat away to Wolves.

The Blades lost 1-0 thanks to Willian Jose’s first goal in the competition, despite a battling performance under interim boss Paul Heckingbottom following the departure of Chris Wilder.

Wilder left the club in March having taken them from the third tier into the Premier League – having guided them to an astonishing ninth-placed finish last season.

The latest defeat leaves them 19 points behind 17th placed Burnley with just six games left to play – and only four wins and two draws alongside 26 defeats.
