Sergio Romero’s wife Eliana Guercio rages at Man Utd after blocking his exit

Sergio Romero’s wife Eliana Guercio has hit out at Manchester United with the goalkeeper set to stay at the Premier League club.

Romero has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is now third-choice shot-stopper under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

David de Gea and Dean Henderson are both ahead of the Argentine, who has regularly performed well when required by United.

Everton were in talks with the Red Devils over a loan move for Romero on transfer deadline day, though a deal did not materialise.

And now Guercio has hit out at the club, where Romero has been since 2015, on social media.

She wrote in a post on Instagram: “Sergio Romero worked hard for his club.

“Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him. He helped the team reach 4 finals/semifinals and then he was left on the bench only to lose them all.

“It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!!!”

Romero is set to stay at United despite Solskjaer hinting in August that one of his trio would be departing.

Solskjaer said: “It’ll be difficult to keep three of them, so we’ll see what the decision will be there.

“I must be the most privileged manager in the world with our goalkeeping department.

“Sergio, David and, with Dean Henderson coming back, there are three top keepers.

“The Europa League has also shown how important Sergio has been for us — and David has always been performing.

"We’ll see what we’ll do going forward.”

Romero has not featured for United this season having been a regular in the cup competitions over the years.

Henderson has played for the Red Devils in both Carabao Cup games having impressed at Sheffield United on loan last year, leaving Romero in the cold.
