Rooneys son Kai bags four goals for Man Utd U12s in match against Liverpool

Wayne Rooney's son, Kai Rooney, found the back of the net on four separate occasions for Manchester United Under-12s over the weekend.

However, Rooney's four strikes for the Red Devils' youth side weren't enough to prevent Liverpool bagging the victory, running out 5-4 winners.

Rooney has been documenting progress on his Instagram page, where he has almost 40,000 followers.

The United legend's son signed for United last December, and he started to make a name for himself by scoring a hat-trick for the U11s against Stoke City in May.

And his goals haven't gone unnoticed by United fans on social media.

"Project Rooney is underway, we just waiting for Ronaldo Jr," one fan tweeted.

Another added: "Legend in the making."

"Lmao…the kid is already becoming like his father," a third tweeted, referencing Rooney being United's top goalscorer of all time.

A fourth joked: "He must be feeling worse than Arshavin," after the Russian famously bagged form for Arsenal in the Premier League, but his side still couldn't beat the Reds.

However, the majority of fans were asking if he could play for the first team, at CDM, instead of Fred.

Interestingly, Rooney will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, for the United U12s side.

And the Red Devils will be hoping the youngster can replicate the 58 goals inside just 28 games he bagged at Juventus.

Ronaldo Jr was snapped outside of Carrington alongside Nemanja Matic's son before training last month.
