Ravel Morrison had a cheeky message about Arsenal after a passing comment to Gary Neville in the Manchester United canteen.
That is the latest revelation from Rio Ferdinand, who hosted the former Red Devils ace in an open and honest chat on his podcast.
Now 28, Morrison finds himself without a club after being released by Dutch side ADO Den Haag in January.
It follows recent spells at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.
It is a solemn fall from his time at Old Trafford, where he was tipped to become a superstar under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Personal problems in his life have tragically seen that his talent has largely been wasted – though there is time yet to turn his career around.
One facet of his personality that should be commended is his cheeky attitude, which was evident even as a young lad coming through the ranks at United.
As a youngster, there are not many more intimidating atmospheres than the Carrington canteen when the Red Devils had a star-studded squad including the likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Ferdinand.
And the latter has explained how an unfazed Morrison strolled straight up the Neville and told him that he wanted to sign for Arsenal.
Speaking with the midfielder on the Five YouTube channel, he said: "At the training ground, this is how confident this kid was, we would be getting out lunch.
"Me, Giggsy, Nev, Scholes, Wazza, everyone, we are sitting down at the first-team table.
"And he would be in the queue and I remember him telling Gary Neville that Arsenal are better than United.
"He said, ‘I’m gonna go Arsenal, I am gonna sign for Arsenal soon if I can.’ Do you remember that, Rav?"

Morrison, who also played for the likes of West Ham and QPR, replied: “Yeah, because I wanted to play with Thierry Henry.
“Obviously, Rio knows he played in a superstar team but the way I like football and my style, Arsenal were the one for me.
“You had Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Sylvain Wiltord, Nicolas Anelka, wicked.”
