Raphinha told Liverpool “suits” Leeds star but hed be on fringes of first XI

Raphinha has been told he would suit Liverpool's style of play if he was to move to the club.

However, he would likely find himself on the peripheries of the starting XI with Jurgen Klopp already having a number of options.

That is the verdict from former Reds defender Glen Johnson, who believes he is high on their list of targets.

The Leeds United star has had a fine start to life in the Premier League after moving to the club in the summer of 2020 from Rennes.

In his first season, he scored six times in the division but it was his silky skills that made fans fall in love while he already has three this campaign.

There have already been links to top clubs and Manchester United were interested in his services in January.

But Liverpool are also reportedly in the running and Johnson reckons he would be a fine addition to the squad.

He told BettingOdds.com: “I like him. I’m a big fan. The style of football that Leeds play suits him, he has the shackles off and he’s technically great.

"If he did sign for Liverpool then I wouldn’t expect him to demand a place in their starting eleven.

"But he would certainly be one of those players on the fringe and would definitely strengthen the squad.

"He’s the sort of player that would suit Liverpool’s style of play too, so if the money was right then I’m sure he would be high on their list of targets.”

Liverpool have some tremendous options in attack already with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane on either flank.

Diogo Jota can act as a suitable back-up to either while there are other options including Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Harvey Elliott, when he returns from injury.

Meanwhile, Raphinha is contracted to Leeds until 2024, while the Whites are in no mood to sell.
