PSG offer Neymar to Man City in swap deal claims French newspaper

Manchester City have reportedly snubbed the chance to sign PSG superstar Neymar – because the French champions wanted any deal to include Bernardo Silva.

Speculation over Neymar's future has been rife in recent weeks after Nasser Al-Khelaifi refused to rule out offloading the 30-year-old. The former Barcelona man only joined the French giants in a world-record £198million transfer back in 2017, but has failed to live up to lofty expectations in Paris.

PSG have had a major overhaul in recent weeks, with Christophe Galtier replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout and Luis Campo named as the club's new football advisor. And Neymar could be the next big name on the way out of the Parc des Princes, according to a new report from Le Parisien.

The report claims that the French giants have offered Neymar to Manchester City; one of the few clubs in European football who would be able to afford the forward's bloated salary, which reportedly clocks in at around €43m (£37.3m) gross including bonuses.

However, City have 'declined' to enter talks over any potential deal for Neymar – as PSG had designs on swapping the striker for Silva. City's Portuguese playmaker is in highdemand after a stunning season at the Etihad, where he bagged 13 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

Barcelona would also love to strike a deal for the 27-year-old. But City are determined to keep hold of Silva – just 12 months after he seemed destined to quit the club over a lack of first-team football.

And given that Pep Guardiola has already made it clear that the Premier League champions have no appetite to cash in on Silva this summer, Neymar could be left in limbo.

A report from ESPN earlier this month claimed that the PSG star had 'made contact' with Chelsea after discovering that his current club are 'open' to flogging him this summer.

The Blues had flirted with the idea of signing Neymar in a blockbuster deal. However Thomas Tuchel's side have since captured Raheem Sterling in a £47.5m deal – which could mean a Premier League switch is off the cards for now.
