Nuno Espirito Santo's decision to replace Lucas Moura with Steven Bergwijn during Tottenham's 3-0 defeat against Manchester United was met with a chorus of 50,000 boos on Saturday night.
Spurs were handed their fifth defeat in seven matches against United, first falling a goal behind at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Cristiano Ronaldo volleyed the visitors in front five minutes before half-time.
Ronaldo was on hand again to help double their lead 20 minutes after the restart, releasing Edinson Cavani through on goal for the Red Devils' second in north London.
And four minutes from time Marcus Rashford capped a miserable evening for Spurs when he converted from close range to make it 3-0.
The defeat has piled even more pressure on under-fire boss Nuno, who was subjected to a deafening chorus of boos and chants of "you don't know what you're doing" when he made his first change 10 minutes into the second half.
With his side trailing 1-0 at the time, the Portuguese gaffer decided against tweaking his set up and instead made a like-for-like substitution by swapping Lucas for Bergwijn.

The home fans in attendance certainly made their displeasure known, with Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler saying: "[Nuno] has 50,000 people telling him what they think of it."
Fans took to Twitter to highlight Nuno's precarious position after the boos, suggesting his time as Spurs boss could now be nearing an end.
One wrote: "Nuno getting booed he's finished".
Another observed: "Nuno is fast becoming a dead man walking. Not many managers survive long after having their substitutions openly booed. Getting really ugly."
One confused fan posted: "WHY DID NUNO TAKE LUCAS OFF????????? mans got booed hard".
While another said: "Nuno getting booed. Uh oh, Spurs in big trouble".

When asked about the negative reaction to his substitution and how he convince fans that they're on the right track, Nuno said in his post-match interview: "We are not on the right track. This season is part of football.
"The fans suffer when you're not performing well. They have showed they're not happy. We keep on trying."
