Mohamed Salah’s head-shaking shows ‘something isn’t right’ with Jurgen Klopp

Mohamed Salah's head-shaking shows that 'something is not right' between him and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Klopp chose not to include Salah in his starting line-up for the comeback victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday (May 10), with the Egyptian winger instead named on the bench. That decision came despite Salah being both the club and the Premier League's top scorer this season and Liverpool in need of a win to keep the pressure on leaders Manchester City.

Salah was eventually introduced off the bench during the second half, but his body language left Agbonlahor believing there may be an issue with his manager.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, Agbonlahor explained: “I could see his body language yesterday, on the bench, the camera kept going to him, he didn’t look happy and when he finally come on, what was it 70 minutes, when I looked at him he didn’t look happy, shaking his head as if like ‘I’m only getting 20 minutes’.

“Players like Salah, he wants goals, doesn't he? Son (Heung-min) is two goals away from him. Salah will want to win top goalscorer. Something doesn’t seem right between him and Klopp for me.

"We’ve seen the figures that are reported for (Erling) Haaland’s contract, £375,000 per week. Salah will be looking at that and saying: ‘I’m not changing my terms, I want over £300,000 per week, you give it to me or I’m going’.

Will Mohamed Salah still be at Liverpool next season? Let us know in the comments section below.

“That’s going to have a knock on effect for Mane, talk of Mane to Bayern Munich. Mane’s going to want a lot of money, not probably 300, 350, but he’s going to want over 200, 250, for sure because they’re going to want their worth.

“What they’ve done for Liverpool, especially this season, the goals. You can’t blame Salah for wanting it, so there’s a problem there for me with Liverpool.”

Both Salah and Sadio Mane are out of contract at Anfield at the end of next season, with Liverpool yet to resolve either of their contract situations.

Mane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this week, whilst reports of Salah eyeing an exit have persisted throughout the season.

The decision not to start Salah against Villa could also cost him the Premier League golden boot as he failed to get on the score sheet after being introduced in the 72nd minute at Villa Park.

Tottenham's Son is currently two goals behind Salah on 18 goals for the season and has one more game than his rival left to play.
