Having lived a life of promiscuity, it was always going to take someone special to tie former Arsenal and Chelsea target Vagner Love down, but that's exactly what Brazilian beauty Lucilene 'Lene' Pires has done.

Love by name, love by nature, the 38-year-old forward has enjoyed a prolific career both on the pitch and in the bedroom during his 20 years as a pro. However, it seems the sex-mad striker has since changed his ways, having settled down with blonde bombshell Pires.

The pair wed back in December of 2014 and have one daughter together named Alice. But while Love has become something of a family man these days, it hasn't always been that way: the former Brazil international and two-time Copa America winner previously earned himself a raunchy reputation.

The saucy striker shot to fame back in 2009 after he fired Russian side CSKA Moscow to a surprise UEFA Cup success, bagging a staggering 11 goals in just 10 games to finish as the competition's top goal-getter. Those exploits saw him attract interest from Premier League suitors, namely Arsenal, however a move to English shores never did transpire.

But it wasn't just within the beautiful game where Love racked up a string of admirers. Tales of orgies tell the true story of the cult hero centre forward, who was also said to have once featured in a sex tape.

Love, who once revealed he lost his virginity at the tender age of 14 to a 25-year-old girlfriend, hit the headlines back in 2008 after he allegedly appearing in a video with adult actress Pamela Butt which was leaked online. And that's not all.

Did Premier League clubs make a mistake in not signing Vagner Love back in 2009? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The journeyman striker, who earned his moniker as a result of his off-field love-making antics, once opened up on his sex-crazed past in a sensational interview with Playboy Brasil back in 2011. A past which even includes a 14-person orgy.

When asked if orgies between players and their female fans ever occurred, Love replied with an emphatic 'yes'. He continued: "Does it happen? Now I am married, but (orgies) do happen. If there were six men, we would say that we were going to have eight women, more or less.

"The (groupies) want to take advantage. They want to get a footballer and then talk about it to their friends: 'Hey, I was with this guy, I was with that guy'. There is a lot of competition between them. They all want status and a little bit of fame."

Love, whose birth name is in actual fact Vagner Santos de Souza, then went on to elaborate on the origins of his nickname, which arose following a pre-match tryst. "I have only done that once in my life," he added.

"I would not recommend it to any player who is starting his career. My name (Love) came from that, it was a mistake that ended up sticking with me."

As if his chin-wag with Playboy couldn't get any more astonishing, the former CSKA striker then advised others against engaging in coitus in the cold climes of Russia and Siberia. He encouraged: "You can still do it.

"At home, in restaurants or in shopping malls there is always heating, so no problem. The issue is out in the street. I did not mess around doing that in the street because I'm not tough enough to do it when it is -27, -30°C."

These days however, it appears Love has finally found someone who can tame him, meeting his match in Pires. The Brazilian beauty regularly takes to Instagram to share loved-up snaps of the pair smiling away and sunning it up all over the world.

Love, who has a child from a previous marriage to a model named Martha, appears to have well-and-truly put his sordid past behind him. In celebration of the pair's seven-year wedding anniversary last December, Pires paid tribute to her partner and "prince" with a heartfelt Instagram post.

She wrote: "Seven years since we made our decision to live together for all the days of our lives official. I thank God for protecting our union. I thank you for being this husband companion, friend, loyal… and for completing me so much! I love you so much, my prince."

It seems Love's amorous activities over the years have almost been as adventurous and far-reaching as his nomadic footballing career. The Rio-born romper made his big break with Palmeiras in his native Brazil in 2002 before moving to Moscow two years' later, where he struck a stunning 124 goals in 259 appearances for CSKA over an eight-year spell.

Following another stint in his homeland with Flamengo, Love briefly returned to CSKA for a second stint before going on to ply his trade in China, France, Turkey, Kazakhstan and latterly Denmark. Live, laugh, love, as they say – and Vagner has certainly done just that.
