Mauricio Pochettino will already be discussing the future of Harry Kane during his talks over a return to Tottenham. That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who believes the Argentine is confident he can keep Kane at the club if he returns.
The England captain is said to be set on a move this summer as he looks to join a club capable of challenging for the biggest prizes.
Although Kane is yet to request a transfer, it’s understood that he has informed Daniel Levy that he wants to leave Tottenham.
Yet that could now change following this morning’s blockbuster twist that Pochettino is in talks over a return to north London.
The PSG boss was sacked by Levy in November 2019 before being replaced by Jose Mourinho, who was also handed his P45 last month.

Solhekol believes Pochettino is already discussing the future of Kane with Levy, who may believe re-appointing his former boss gives Tottenham the best chance of keeping their talisman.
“If Tottenham appoint Mauricio Pochettino, I think it would be much more likely that Harry Kane stays,” he told Sky Sports News.
“I would go as far as saying that I’m sure in these talks between Pochettino and Spurs that of course Harry Kane has come up.
“Pochettino will be asking Daniel Levy ‘look, what is the situation with him? Have you spoken with him and does he definitely want to leave?’

“Pochettino will believe he can convince him to stay and he will come up in those talks.”
Tottenham still have a host of other candidates on the agenda but Pochettino is now believed to be amongst the favourites for the position.
Erik ten Hag also held talks with Spurs before signing a new deal with Ajax and Solhekol is adamant every manager who has spoken with the club, will have asked for clarity on Kane’s future.
“Even with any other manager including Erik ten Hag, we know they were interested in him,” he added.
“One of the first things Erik ten Hag will have asked is ‘What’s going to happen with Harry Kane? Will he stay? If I become Spurs manager will I have him next season?’
“If I’m not going to have him, what will happen to the £150million that we get from selling him? Will I be able to reinvest that into the squad?’
“Those are the kind of conversations that will be being held behind closed doors.”
Roberto Martinez, Graham Potter and Ralf Rangnick are amongst the other names in the frame.
