Mason Mount loves singing national anthem – and belts it out as loud as he can

Mason Mount is a natural-born singer when it comes to the national anthem.

The current group of England players are becoming renowned for bellowing out ‘God Save The Queen’ before every international.

None more so than Mount, with the Chelsea star admitting he absolutely loves the pre-match ritual – and always has.

And, ahead of Sunday's European Championship final with Italy, he revealed that the entire squad share that same partisan pride – and their collective singing is anything but pre-arranged.

The England playmaker, 22, said: “We haven’t spoken about it. It’s just that passion which we all have.

‘‘That’s one of my favourite things – ever – to stand there and to have a nearly packed-out Wembley, with all those fans in there, and everyone singing the national anthem.

“it’s such a special moment. So, I’m just trying to belt it out, I can’t even hear myself sing it. I don’t know how loud I’m singing!”

The thrill of booming out the country’s often-maligned anthem runs deep in the Mount family.

Mount, recalled: “I always remember my dad saying, ever since I made my first game with England at Under-16 level, that whenever I get the opportunity to sing it – sing it loud and proud.

‘’And that’s what I’ve always tried to do – it’s just so special.”
