Martin Odegaard took time out of his post-match relaxation following Arsenal’s hard-fought Sunday win over Newcastle to facetime Gunners supporters on the train back to London.

The Gunners captain opened the scoring in the 2-0 victory on Tyneside as Arsenal maintained pressure on Premier League leader’s Manchester City who sit just one point clear at the top of the table.

Odegaard has now scored three goals in his last two appearances to help Mikel Arteta’s side get back to winning ways after a previous three-game winless spell.

Arsenal supporters who had made the near-300 mile trip from London to St James’ Park were already in a raucous mood on their way home but were given a boost by their club’s leader.

Odegaard is shown appearing on a supporters phone for a facetime call and appears to interact with fans who are astonished to see the Norwegian looking back at them down the phone.

Some supporters hold thumbs up to the camera while others clap and cheer as Odegaard beams back at them, obviously in a good mood after beating Newcastle.

His post-match actions on Sunday come after Arsenal players were previously slammed for their poor fan engagement following their 2-2 draw against West Ham in April.

Players barely interacted with a young girl who was the team’s mascot at the London stadium with Odegaard one of the individuals involved who kept his earphones in while signing an Arsenal shirt pre-match.

However, he appears to have learnt from that mistake and is now engaging with fans on an unprecedented level rarely seen elsewhere.

Amazed onlookers on social media couldn’t believe what they were seeing but credited the Arsenal star for taking time out to give travelling fans a memorable moment.
