Man Utd submit ‘formal offer’ to Jorge Mendes as Ronaldo considers return

Manchester United have reportedly made an offer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes as they look to bring the Juventus star back to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is adored by Red Devils fans following his time at the Premier League giants from 2003 to 2009.

He helped United to three Prem titles and the Champions League before heading to Spain and signing for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018 though there are suggestions that the Serie A giants are willing to let the Portuguese star go this summer as they look to lower their wage bill.

And Record say United have already made a ‘formal offer’ to his agent Mendes as they look to bring Ronaldo back to the Premier League.

Ronaldo had previously spoken about his love for United, saying in 2015: “In football, you never know what will happen tomorrow.

“People know I love Manchester United. It’s great there – they support me a lot… I’m very good here at Madrid, but in the future: nobody knows. Let’s see what’s gonna happen.”

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had also opened up on his desire to manage Ronaldo one day.

Speaking in the summer, the Norwegian asked which of his 1999 treble-winning United team-mates he'd love to manage today.

After naming Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, he said: "Don't forget I played with Cristiano and he's the best player in the world – so I wouldn't mind having him in my team too."

Though Troy Deeney believes a move to Wolves would be better: "I would more look at a club like Wolves with the Portugal connection – that would work.
