Manchester United ‘joined by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Jadon Sancho’ with Borussia Dortmund willing to sell if Bundesliga rivals meet his £110m asking price
- Bayern Munich join Manchester United in the transfer race for Jadon Sancho
- Sancho is contracted with Dortmund until 2022 but is likely to leave this summer
- The Bundesliga side want at least £110million for the England international
- Bayern Munich have more funds than United to pay for the 20-year-old starlet
- He has scored 14 goals and provided 15 assists in 23 league matches this season
Bayern Munich have joined the transfer race for Jadon Sancho and threaten a swoop for the Manchester United target.
Sancho is contracted with the club until 2022, but should a potential suitor be willing to pay the £110million asking price for the 20-year-old, Borussia Dortmund would allow him to leave this summer, according to ESPN.
Sancho is one of the most sought-after talents in world football after thriving in the Bundesliga with 14 goals and 16 assists this season.
Jadon Sancho remains likely to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to reports
Manchester United target could be signed by Bayern Munich as they join the transfer race
Bayern would look to add Sancho to their ranks to push for Champions League glory again, having failed to win their ultimate prize since 2013.
Alongside their pursuit of Sancho, Bayern will also keep Manchester City’s Leroy Sane as a priority target with their long standing interest yet to materialise.
Sancho has not only thrived in the Bundesliga, but he has already made his mark in the England side, becoming the youngest player to score twice in a game when he netted a brace against Kosovo in September last year.
But concern could rise as Sancho started Dortmund’s return to action on the sidelines after the England star reportedly picked up a calf injury.
Despite that, his rise to stardom has not gone unnoticed with a host of clubs vying for his signature this summer.
United are favourites to land Sancho this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to continue to build his young side. At the same time, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and now Bayer Munich have also been linked.
Though Manchester United are currently leading the race for his signature, those at Old Trafford face stiff competition.
As one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe, Dortmund will be willing to pick up the tab for the young starlet, despite the financial ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic – unlike Manchester United who have said they will not break the bank amid the current climate.
Another outstanding season in the Bundesliga has strengthened the interest from other clubs
The Englishman originally moved to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2017 from Manchester City and is likely to make a move back to Manchester, but this time for United.
The 20-year-old would be an automatic starter in Solskjaer’s line-up as they could benefit from his goal-scoring prowess as United languished a high 37 points behind runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool after 29 games.
The club was also in the midst of a six-team battle for the final Champions League spot qualification spot for next season.
Not only has Sancho thrived in the Bundesliga, but he has already made his mark in the England side, impressing Gareth Southgate when given the chance.
A potential front free of Sancho, Martial and Rashford would no doubt whet the appetite of all United fans.
The Bundesliga side are thought to want a fee of at least £100million for the 20-year-old star
