Man Utd have Ismaila Sarr bid rejected but Watford send transfer clause counter-offer

Manchester United have had a late loan offer rejected for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr but the Hornets are said to be willing to do a deal and negotiations remain ongoing. The Senegal international has played just one full season in the Premier League following his arrival from Rennes for £30million last summer.

He is prepared to stay with Watford for another season in the Championship in a bid to help them gain promotion back to the top flight.

Despite that, United have taken an interest in the player in recent weeks with Borussia Dortmund refusing to drop their asking price for Jadon Sancho.

Sarr has emerged as a potential alternative and contact has been made through intermediaries in recent weeks.

Watford were asking for around £45m to let him go but that could now be about to change.

According to French outlet Telefoot, United have seen a loan offer rejected.

Journalist Saber Desfarges tweeted: “Manchester United rushes towards Ismaila Sarr (Watford)

“Loan offer with option to buy (45 million pounds). Offer declined: Watford wants to add 25million clause if #MUFC does not exercise the purchase option. Negotiations in progress. #Mercato”
