Man Utd fans spot Dean Henderson error moments before costly AC Milan goal

Manchester United fans have spotted an error from goalkeeper Dean Henderson moments before he conceded against AC Milan.

The 23-year-old was on the verge of a clean sheet in the Europa League round-of-16 first leg with just over 90 seconds to go.

But Simon Kjaer drove a powerful header at the shot-stopper, which he missed with a right-handed effort and allowed into the net for a 1-1 draw.

It has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put the blame at Henderson’s feet for allowing the Italian side to take an away goal back to the San Siro.

And new footage has emerged which suggests the young goalkeeper was already down the road of error before Kjaer got to it.

In the clip, the ball has been floated into the penalty box from Rade Runic’s corner kick.

Henderson keeps his eyes on the ball throughout – but there is a millisecond where the shot-stopper believes the ball has gone beyond Milan’s defender.

And it means the 23-year-old misreads the flight of the ball at the last moment, getting his lines wrong as he attempts to punch the ball out.

The Italian side celebrate wildly as Henderson is left looking to the air in disappointment.

United’s Europa League draw was Henderson’s third game between the posts as he has been filling in for David de Gea, given leave for family reasons.

And Paul Scholes, who won 25 major titles at United, believes his last-minute error could have undone all the youngster’s hard work.

Speaking on BT Sport after the draw, the ex-midfielder said: “The trouble is when the mistake comes in his career.

“Now that just gives a little opening again for David.”
