Manchester United and Manchester City have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Erling Haaland as Bayern Munich will reportedly go after the Borussia Dortmund forward if Robert Lewandowski leaves the club next summer.
The Manchester duo have both been heavily linked with the Norwegian, who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer when his release clause becomes active.
Almost every major club in Europe are set to battle over Haaland at the end of the season and now Bayern are the latest big name to enter the fray.
According to Bild Sport journalist Christian Falk, Bayern will attempt to sign the 21-year-old forward from Dortmund next summer should Lewandowski call time on his career with the German giants.
Lewandowski has enjoyed a stellar career at Bayern since joining the club on a free transfer from Dortmund back in 2014.
The 33-year-old has won no fewer than seven Bundesliga titles, the Champions League, three DFB-Pokals and five DFL-Supercups, while breaking countless records along the way, including Gerd Muller’s formidable one.
But the Polish striker’s future at Bayern remains uncertain, with speculation linking him with a potential move away from Bavaria next summer.

However, when asked about his future recently, Lewandowski was keen to keep his cards close to his chest.
"I'm not really thinking about that [where he'll play next season], we are just starting the season, we've only been there for two months, I have a two-year contract,” Lewandowski said, as quoted by Marca.
"We [Lewandowski and Haaland] are different players, he is a great young player, with a great future, he loves to play counter attack, he has a very strong left foot with a lot of power.
“I am a forward of another type. Play together? I'm not the one to say that we couldn't play together."
