Man United’s ‘palpable’ Kounde interest, Lingard plea, Juventus want striker duo

Manchester United's squad is in an intriguing position at the moment, so it will be fascinating to see what direction the club go in in an attempt to strengthen it.

The Red Devils are blessed with a number of elite players, although so far this season performances of cohesion have been rare from the collective. As a result, some big holes in the group have been exposed.

While interim manager Ralf Rangnick's modus operandi will be to mould what is currently at his disposal into a better all-round machine, there may be some temptation to do January business to better prepare the squad for his successor.

'Palpable' interest in Jules Kounde

According to AS (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United are serious about signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

The France international has long been linked with a move away from the Andalusian giants and Premier League interest came in the summer in the form of Chelsea.

The Blues were unable to get a deal over the line though and it's suggested they may face significant competition for the player, who is reported to have "palpable" admiration at Old Trafford.

It's added that United could move for Kounde as early as January, with Sevilla "not taking it for granted" that the 23-year-old will finish the season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Jesse Lingard plea

Former West Ham striker Tony Cottee has called on West Ham United to bring Jesse Lingard back to the club in January.

Lingard has struggled for minutes at United this season having impressed on loan with the Hammers last year. With his contract up at the end of 2021-22, he is expected to leave the Red Devils in January or the summer.

Speaking to TalkSport, Cottee said David Moyes should move to bring the England international back to the London Stadium as soon as possible.

"Yes I think he will go into the market, I’d like to see someone like Jesse Lingard for example – who was fabulous last year – get him back at the club and look at other options as well," he said.

Juventus consider United duo

According to Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness ), Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani are on Juventus' radar.

Cavani and Martial have both been linked with moves away from Old Trafford in January after struggling for minutes this season, while Juventus have failed to find a regular goalscorer following Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the Red Devils.

While Cavani is noted to be a target for Barcelona in the report, Juventus are reportedly looking to sign Martial on a permanent deal should any transfer take place.
