Manchester City are set to launch a fresh bid to sign Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, and could have a secret plan to entice the Argentine into signing which involves Pep Guardiola, according to Eurosport.
City are still keen on signing Messi after failing with a bid during the summer.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner sent shockwaves throughout the footballing world in August as he announced his intent to leave Barca.
After spending his entire career at the club, he decided he wanted a change after a terrible end to the season.
Barca’s 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich was the final straw for Messi, who announced via fax that he wanted to exercise an exit clause in his contract.

City were ready to pounce, and were believed to be readying a contract worth £450million over five years.
However, then-club president Josep Bartomeu took matters into his own hands and got La Liga involved to prevent Messi from walking out, ensuring he would see out the rest of his contract.
Bartomeu resigned from the club earlier this season, and it has been claimed that Messi could reconsider his decision to leave depending on the winner of the upcoming presidential elections.
But City are still keen, and are reportedly preparing a new offer for him.

Eurosport claims Messi will be offered a deal which will see him play his final few years over in America for Major League Soccer side New York City FC.
NYCFC are owned by City Football Group, the owners of the Premier League side.
Messi apparently sees this as an exciting offer, and would consider it if presented to him.
City have also been tipped to use their link with NYCFC to keep Guardiola at the club as well.
Guardiola’s contract expires next summer, but he is in talks to extend his deal.
The Spanish boss is claimed to have spent a year in New York after he left Barcelona in 2012, and still apparently owns a home there.
And it has been claimed that in order to sign a new long-term contract at City, part of that agreement will be that he has the opportunity to leave The Etihad for the Big Apple.
With contract negotiations currently underway for the manager, it is possible that Guardiola and Messi could reunite at the Etihad before both leaving for New York.
