Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension worth £20million-a-season that will keep him at Manchester City until 2025. The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has been at City since 2016, winning 11 trophies, and has committed to an extra two seasons at the Etihad as he looks to deliver even more success.

And Guardiola, fresh from signing his new deal, warned the likes of Premier League table-toppers Arsenal and long-time rivals Liverpool that City have unfinished business under him. The Catalan coach said: “I have everything I need to do my job best as possible. I have the support.

“We discuss a lot what we can do better. We have to do better. I love my job and I have everything to do it. I cannot be in a better place now.

“The moment I don’t feel that, for family reasons, or I have achieved everything I want to achieve, or I don’t feel comfortable with the team, or it’s not a pleasure to fight for another Premier League, when these feelings disappear, I will step aside.

“That is normal in life. I am not eternal. Every day we are here, we are closer to the end. That is normal. But still I have this feeling there is something more to do. That is my feeling right now.”

While the City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, said: “I am delighted that Pep’s journey with Manchester City Football Club will continue. He has already contributed so much to the success and fabric of this organisation.

“And it’s exciting to think what might be possible given the energy, hunger and ambition that he clearly still has. Like every City fan, I am looking forward to what lies ahead.”
