Liverpool were looking to sign Karim Adeyemi but it appears Borussia Dortmund are set to win that battle. The RB Salzburg ace has been in fine form this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s plans to snap up Red Bull Salzburg hotshot Adeyemi have gone up in smoke with the Germany international set on a move to Dortmund.

The Reds are keen on bolstering their attack – despite the fact that Mohamed Salah is in the form of his life.

The Egypt international has scored 21 times in 22 matches but Anfield are always on the prowl for the best attackers.

Adeyemi could have been a fine addition and has scored 18 times already this season – including four in the Champions League – but reports indicate a Dortmund switch is set to go ahead.

So, who could Liverpool make a move for instead? Express Sport takes a look.

Benjamin Sesko

Without looking too far away from Adeyemi’s club, the Austrian outfit appear to already have his replacement waiting in the wings.

Sesko is just 18 but he scored 21 times for FC Liefering on loan from Salzburg last season and has all the attributes that a certain Erling Haaland exhibited at the club not long ago.

Despite being a mammoth 6ft 4ins, the Slovenia international has searing pace and has been tipped for stardom in the near future.

Emmanuel Dennis

Since arriving from Club Brugge in the summer, Dennis has been an instant hit at Vicarage Road and has scored seven times for them despite their Premier League woes.

Watford might survive simply down to his goals while it will not be long before another club takes an interest in the Nigeria international.

Skilful and pacy, Dennis is not just a fine goalscorer but can also be a huge nuisance while his relentless pressing from the front will surely have alerted Klopp.

Bryan Mbeumo

It has not taken long for the Brentford star to get used to life in the Premier League and the Frenchman is the ideal embodiment of Thomas Frank’s high tempo style.

The goals have not been there yet for the 22-year-old, who has netted three times in the top tier so far, but the potential is easy to see for a real star in the making.

And swapping life at the Bees for Anfield could be a relatively simple one for the ex-Troyes ace, with both tactical systems somewhat similar while much could depend on whether Brentford can stay in the top division.
