Liverpool’s stance on Leeds United star Raphinha has emerged amid speculation the Reds have submitted a £32million for the winger. The Brazilian has starred in his first season at Elland Road, holding down a regular spot in Marcelo Bielsa’s side to make 30 appearances in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old did not take long to adapt to Bielsa’s eccentric style of management, scoring six goals and notching nine assists.

Raphinha also impressed many with his work-rate out wide, playing a key part in the pressing game that Leeds utilise.

His all-action displays, which also saw him notch three assists in his final four matches, helped the Whites to secure a top-half finish in their first season back in the Premier League.

But while he is only in his first season at Elland Road, the winger has been attracting interest from Leeds’ top-flight rivals.

Mainly, it is the ‘big six’ sides who are interested in the Brazilian, with Liverpool linked with a move.

The Reds are looking to boost their attacking options after a relatively disappointing season in the Premier League.

Though they finished third in the top-flight and Mohamed Salah finished second in the Golden Boot race, Liverpool’s attack suffered a noticeable downturn.

Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino both struggled for form, with the duo finding goals hard to come by for much of the campaign.

Back-up Xherdan Shaqiri has also failed to impress, leading manager Jurgen Klopp to look for a new attacker when the summer transfer window opens.

But despite rumours that the Reds were considering a £32m bid, it appears that a move for Raphinha is unlikely at this stage.

That is because the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Liverpool are yet to declare an interest in the winger, or even enquire about his situation at Leeds.

The Whites would be able to demand a hefty fee for the 24-year-old, as he still has three years left on his contract.

Leeds director of football Victor Orta has also insisted that the Yorkshire side would not consider selling Raphinha, even if a bid did come in.

“Raphinha is a special case. He has been brilliant from the moment he touched this club,” Orta told One Football.

“But it wasn’t easy because he arrived in the last few days of the transfer window, really nervous and, honestly, he didn’t have a lot of time to decide.

“We saw an opportunity late on and gambled – just like he did with us – and, hopefully, this is the beginning of something beautiful.”
