  • The Premier League clash at Anfield gets underway from 8pm GMT

Liverpool are edging closer to a first top flight title in 30 years and will be looking to pull 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League table when they host West Ham United at Anfield.

The Monday Night Football clash though will see Jurgen Klopp try to return to winning ways after just their third defeat in all competitions this season following the Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid.

By contrast West Ham will arrive at Liverpool lingering inside the bottom three and looking for a first top flight victory since New Year’s Day.

When was the last time it featured a team that had lost a game? Liverpool players surely can’t be helped but be in a buoyant mood every time they walk into it as they stroll towards a first Premier League title.

Jordan Henderson’s hamstring injury means he is replaced by Fabinho, while Sadio Mane also returns to the Liverpool side in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from the side that won 1-0 at Norwich City.

West Ham also make two alterations. Young full-back Jeremy Ngakia makes just his second appearance in place of Ryan Fredericks while Felipe Anderson comes into the side that lost 2-0 at Manchester City with Arthur Masuaku making way.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Subs: Lovren, Adrian, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Minamino, Lallana, Origi, Matip.

West Ham: Fabianski, Ngakia, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Snodgrass, Soucek, Noble, Felipe Anderson, Antonio.
Subs: Balbuena, Zabaleta, Lanzini, Bowen, Fornals, Haller, Randolph.

Referee: Jonathan Moss (County Durham)

Joe Gomez is on the matchday programme cover, but will he be in the starting XI? Team news to come next from Anfield.

West Ham always knew this would be a tough fixture but they have been helped by results around them this weekend. The four sides that surround them in the table in Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Watford and Norwich City all lost and it enables them to have a free hit at Anfield tonight.

Liverpool by contrast don’t even look at other team’s results they are that far ahead. They might take a glance at a Manchester City score though so they can plan the weekend of when will actually win the title though.

And let’s be honest we haven’t had to say that too many times over the past season. Just twice in fact if you don’t include the kids being beaten by Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

But following the Champions League loss at Atletico Madrid they face a West Ham United side who will either be hoping to take advantage of a rare dip in the Reds form or hope they are not going to be on the end of a severe backlash from Jurgen Klopp’s men!

Good evening all and welcome to our live coverage of Liverpool vs West Ham United in the Premier League.
