Liverpool are preparing for the potential return of supporters to Anfield amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Fans have not been able to watch their side play at Anfield since Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid back in March.
The Government has shelved plans which would have seen fans return to stadiums at a reduced capacity, with test events scrapped back in September due to a rise in coronavirus cases.
However, the Reds have pressed on with their own preparation and they have offered fans an update on the situation.
In an official statement on the club's website, Liverpool said: "As part of the club's ongoing preparations for the potential return of supporters to the stadium in the future, we would like to provide an update to fans on the current situation.
"It was expected that the opening fixtures of the 2020-21 season would take place behind closed doors until at least October at the earliest, with the likelihood that stadiums would then initially operate at reduced capacity in line with social distancing measures.
"As of the end of September, this plan was postponed due to increasing cases of COVID-19 nationally.
"However, as the situation continues to evolve and remains subject to change, we are continuing to work hard to ensure that when the time is right for spectators to return, we are in the best possible position to welcome fans back to Anfield while ensuring a safe environment for everyone in attendance.
