Liverpool have been given hope over a potential deal for Youri Tielemans after a former Belgium international said he expects the midfielder to leave Leicester City soon. Tielemans has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum at Anfield.
Wijnaldum will officially depart Liverpool at the end of his contract in June.
Barcelona are heavily linked with a move for the Holland international, with his agent pictured leaving the Nou Camp offices on Tuesday.
Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad claimed on Wednesday that Tielemans is on a list of midfielders Liverpool are looking at.
Tielemans has had an impressive season for Leicester, scoring a stunning winning goal in the FA Cup final.

However, the Foxes ultimately fell short of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers’ side lost 4-2 to Tottenham on the final day of the campaign to miss out on Europe’s elite club competition at the final hurdle for the second successive season.
Vlieger thinks it is time for Tielemans to leave the King Power and says Leicester would be lucky to keep him for one more season at the most.
“Tielemans is going to leave Leicester City anyway,” he told Play Sports.

“If not this year, then next year. Leicester should hope that he stays another year, but Youri is now so far that he is ready for an absolute top club.”
Tielemans initially joined Leicester on loan from Monaco in 2019 before signing on a permanent deal that summer.
He has a contract at Leicester until 2023.
Nieuwsblad does not say how much Leicester will want for Tielemans, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United and clubs in Spain.
Meanwhile, Wijnaldum issued a statement on Sunday confirming his departure from Liverpool.
The 30-year-old claimed he wanted to stay at Anfield but could not agree terms on a new deal.
Wijnaldum wrote on Instagram: “I would have loved to remain a Liverpool player for many more years, but unfortunately things went different. I have to start a new adventure.
“I didn’t sign somewhere else, everyone knows in football everything can happen. The situation right now is that as of July 1st, I’m not a Liverpool player anymore. We will see what I will do in the next couple of weeks. I will rest a little bit and then go to the national team.
“I will have a look at my story and how everything went. The fans deserve to know the story behind it. Thank you for everything, I will miss you #YNWA.”
