Kate Abdo rinses Micah Richards with ‘bold and beautiful’ dig with star silenced

Imperious football host Kate Abdo cut Micah Richards down to size with a ruthless introduction on Wednesday night.

The CBS star is the main anchor of the American channel’s Champions League coverage, which regularly sees her verbally joust with Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry, and Richards. From a verbal perspective, her striking is as firm and fierce as a Carragher tackle and her whit is as fast and calculated as an Henry burst in behind a backline.

And all of her presenting and p*** boiling expertise were on full display against the almost helpless former Manchester City star.

Abdo opened the show with a very cruel – but perfectly executed – dig at the Premier League winner and ex-England international. She said, “I am Kate Abdo, and for you soap opera lovers, you have just been watching the Bold and the Beautiful.

“Don’t worry, we have more bold and beautiful right here. We’ve also got Micah Richards. Welcome along.” Richards may be the youngest ever central defender to play for England, but he had no defence to the 41-year-old’s savage joke.

Henry only encouraged his host by saying, “this starts well” while a statuesque Richards looked like he was trying to usher in a show-runner to wheel him off the set. However, there was no sign of anybody coming to his aid.

“Come on, this is what we do,” Abdo said with a smirk, while Richards simply continued to stare, blankly, in her general direction. Richards is very rarely short of a word, but he could only muster a very simple reply.

“Really, Kate? Really,” the former England international said at the chuckling Abdo. Richards will have to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike back at Abdo when it presents itself.

However, it is also possible that Richards will take the loss on the chin and prepare himself for the more familiar surroundings of the Sky Sports Studio.
