Gary Lineker has hit out at Gareth Southgate for snubbing James Maddison in his latest England squad after the midfielder impressed for Leicester.
Maddison was overlooked by the Three Lions boss on Thursday as the World Cup edges ever closer. And Maddison was quick to show Southgate exactly what he's missing out on after scoring a delightful goal against Tottenham on Saturday evening, to make it 2-2 on the brink of half time.
Lineker tweeted: "Brilliant again from @Madders10. He’s been superb, running the game. How he’s not in the @EnglandFootball team is baffling." Maddison almost bagged a second a couple of minutes later, but his attempt was thwarted by Hugo Lloris.

Maddison was first called up by Southgate for the Nations League in Autumn 2018 – where he was an unused substitute against Croatia and Spain.
After a series of injuries, Maddison was dropped from the squad, before being recalled a year after he had initially picked up the phone to Southgate. However, after a few more games as an unused substitute – Maddison finally made his debut against Montenegro.
Those 34 minutes in late 2019 remain Maddison's only minutes for England, and he hasn't been called up since.

Leicester have struggled this season, and their woes continued on Saturday evening as they were convincingly beaten by Spurs.
The Foxes had looked threatening, but Brendan Rodgers' side were leaky at the back and they shipped six goals to Antonio Conte's European chasing side, after a howler from Wilfred Ndidi handed Rodrigo Bentancur the chance to make it 3-2 just after half time, sparking a second half rout.
