Jadon Sancho to Man Utd transfer: Everything we know so far about Ed Woodward’s pursuit

Manchester United are determined to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his side. The belief is that the England winger can help United take a step towards Manchester City and Liverpool. Here’s everything we know about Ed Woodward’s pursuit so far.

Borussia Dortmund asking price

Borussia Dortmund want over £100million for Sancho after his blistering performances this season.

The Bundesliga side will point to Ousmane Dembele leaving the club for £135.5m in 2017 with a fee of £96.8m upfront.

There is one unknown though with coronavirus leaving the likes of United and Dortmund with less money than they would expect.

Express Sport understands the Red Devils are ready to bid significantly more than £50m for Sancho in the summer window though.

What does Jadon Sancho want?

Sancho wants to move to United this summer and is close friends with Marcus Rashford.

The 20-year-old told friends at Manchester City earlier this year that he wants to return to the north west.

United are an attractive proposition under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the current form they are in.

There is no doubt Sancho would be excited to play with the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Rashford.

And United are ready to hand him the No.7 shirt if he chooses to make the switch.

Champions League pivotal

Borussia Dortmund do not need to sell and will try and keep Sancho at the club beyond this season.

That’s despite the England ace being out of contract in the summer of 2021.

United finishing in the top four – or five – depending on City’s ban is crucial to signing Sancho as he will want to play in the Champions League.

That is something Dortmund can offer him and could be a factor in him opting to stay in the Bundesliga for 12 more months.

Who else is interested?

United remain the frontrunners for the signature of Sancho with other clubs being linked less and less.

Chelsea have signed Timo Werner and are looking at Ben Chilwell while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a move for him.

City manager Pep Guardiola has also said there will be no Etihad return for Sancho.

So if a return to the Premier League is what Sancho wants it appears United are the only viable option.
