Jack Grealish makes admission about Liverpool game one week after 7-2 demolition

Jack Grealish made a bizarre admission about his part in Aston Villa’s incredible 7-2 demolition of Liverpool.

The Englishman grabbed two goals and three assists in the shock win over the Premier League champions.

It saw Villa maintain a 100 per-cent winning record for their first three games, sitting second behind fellow winners Everton.

But Grealish was almost never part of the game against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Speaking to The Guardian , the 25-year-old said: “It was actually a weird one.

"I had a fitness test on the day of the Liverpool game (last Sunday).

"I hadn’t even trained for the two days before it because I had a sore hamstring. I didn’t expect to play the way I did.

"(It) doesn’t come around often in your lifetime as a footballer, it was crazy."

Grealish built on that performance by grabbing an assist for Dominc Calvert-Lewin in England’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales.

And the midfielder, who grabbed 10 goals and eight assists last season, has promised more of the same throughout the season.

"I’m capable of these types of performances,” Grealish added.

"The aim is to do it every weekend like some of the players in this (England) squad – Harry Kane, Raheem (Sterling), Marcus (Rashford). It is the standard these guys set.

"You only have to look at Harry Kane. He is first on the training pitch, he is first in the meetings. He is last off the training pitch, he is practising his finishing, free-kicks – every single day.

"No wonder he is one of the best strikers in the world. It makes you want to go back to Villa and set those standards."

Grealish was linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window – but he decided to commit to Villa.

The midfielder penned a deal that will keep him in the west Midlands and it will cost any club £80m to buy him out of it.
