Harry Maguire was an interested spectator at Manchester United's UEFA Youth League clash with Villarreal on Wednesday afternoon.
The United captain sat alongside United's football director John Murtough at Leigh Sports Village as the Red Devils' U19s lost 4-1 to Villarreal U19s.
Maguire limped off the field at Old Trafford over the weekend against Aston Villa, ruling him out of United's latest Champions League tie.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are also without Luke Shaw as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Swiss side Young Boys against Villarreal on Wednesday evening.
And Maguire has used his time away from the first team to catch a glimpse of United's future.
However, Maguire may not have been too impressed as he watched the Junior Red Devils pick the ball out of the back of their own net four items before half-time.
United were the architects of their own downfall as Villarreal continued to capitalise on their mistakes.
Highly rated youngsters Marc Jurado and Alvaro Fernandez, who joined United last year from Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively, were both in action.
Fernandez pulled one back for United, but Neil Wood's side slumped to a 4-1 loss.

Solskjaer's senior side will be hoping to go better than their youth side on Wednesday evening.
