Hakim Ziyech has revealed how Frank Lampard played a "big role" in his decision to sign for Chelsea.
The Ajax winger will move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after both clubs agreed a £34million deal earlier this month.
Ziyech has come up against Chelsea twice already this season in the Champions League, and did enough to impress Lampard to swoop for his talents.
And it seems Lampard had a pivotal say in Ziyech's transfer, after holding several discussions with the Moroccan international.
Asked how involved Lampard was in the negotiations, Ziyech told Chelsea TV: "A big role. We had a lot of contact in the last couple of weeks and he gave me a good feeling and that was also big to do with the decision [to sign]."
Quizzed further on his feelings towards pulling on a blue shirt, Ziyech added: "Happy, proud, I am excited and I cannot wait.
"It [Chelsea] is a big club in a big competition. I like the style of play, they play really attacking football, and that is something that fits me and that is one of the biggest reasons I chose [to sign]."
Ajax's involvement in the Champions League ended after they were eliminated from the competition at the group stage, while Chelsea progressed to the last-16.
The Dutch club will now test their metal in the Europa League, and are also bidding to retain the Eredivisie title.
