Furious Liverpool fans launch #FSGOUT hashtag after Henderson contract debacle

Some Liverpool fans have been left furious with the club’s ownership after news broke on Jordan Henderson’s contract conundrum.

It comes after little progress being made during talks to extend his stay at the club.

Henderson joined the Reds 10 years ago and is still contracted at Anfield until 2023 and has battled doubters to become a European Cup-winning captain at the club.

He took over the armband after Steven Gerrard left in 2015 and has since won the Champions League and the Premier League.

The 31-year-old will always be considered a Liverpool legend but his time on Merseyside could come to a premature end.

With no progress being made over contract talks, club chiefs are considering selling the midfielder to avoid losing him for nothing.

And it has spared fury in the Liverpool fanbase, who have launched a #FSGOut hashtag to bemoan the ownership.

Some of the responses have been deemed unprintable but many of the Liverpool supporters have the same gripe.

One posted on Twitter: “Can't believe what I’m reading regarding Jordan Henderson’s contract situation.

“He is a Liverpool legend on/off the pitch and deserves a new contract. FSG will have a LOT to answer for if he leaves. #FSGOUT.”

Another fan said: “FSG were heavily involved in the Super League. Tried to furlough staff in lockdown. Tried to trademark the word Liverpool. Tried to raise ticket prices. 15 lowest net spend in the Prem since 19/20. Refusing to offer contracts to Salah/Henderson. Enough is enough #FSGOUT.”

A third said: “We happily gave Adrian a contract but we’re reluctant to give our CLUB CAPTAIN a new contract. Just remember that.”

“#FSGOUT This club deserves better owners,” this fan said.

And this supporter said: “If FSG lose us Henderson in the summer, it's a shambles #FSGOut.”

Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are potential options for Henderson – who could leave as early as this summer.

It comes as the Reds are in the market for a midfielder with Brighton star Yves Bissouma and Leicester ace Youri Tielemans on their radar.
