Fred has claimed Manchester United's clash with Leeds is an "English football Clasico".
The two sides will renew their rivalry on Sunday with the Red Devils still harbouring slim hopes of chasing down Manchester City.
They are also looking to consolidate second place and head into the Europa League semis off the back of a win.
Leeds meanwhile will be looking to get revenge following a hefty defeat at Old Trafford back in December.
The Whites last beat the Red Devils at Elland Road back in 2002 and Fred is fully aware of the anticipation leading up to the game.
"Definitely, it's an English football Clasico," he told the Red Devils' official website. "We get a feel for this anticipation from social media.
"The fans are excited about this game, as are we of course. We haven't had a midweek game this week, so the anticipation for the next game increases and it's a derby game against a massive rival.
"It'll be a really tough game but we'll be preparing well for it this week."
United come into the game having scored two late goals to see off Brighton at Old Trafford whilst Leeds held Liverpool to a draw.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are yet to lose on the road in the league this year, but Fred is under no illusions of the task that lies ahead.
Marcelo Bielsa's intense side have earned plenty of plaudits for the way they've played this year.
Leeds have often been involved in high scoring games, which is backed up by the 6-2 result in the reverse fixture, and Fred is ready for the relentless challenge.
He added: "They're very difficult opponents playing with such high intensity, they're very strong and always looking to attack.
“We're prepared for this, we know how they play and we'll aim to be at our very best to get the win.”
