Gameweek 8 is just around the corner as Fantasy Premier League managers work out who to transfer in and out of their teams. Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse was the standout player in GW7, scoring twice and providing one assist in the 4-3 win over Aston Villa to earn 17 points. Once again there is another early deadline this week, meaning FPL managers will have to finalise their transfer decisions by 4pm GMT on Friday (November 6). Here, Express Sport looks at the key transfers you may wish to consider ahead of GW8.
Fantasy Premier League transfer tips for GW8
GK: Edouard Mendy (CHE) £5.1m
Mendy has certainly eased Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s defensives worries.
The 28-year-old has kept a clean sheet in each of his three Premier League appearances so far and he will be confident of another return against Sheffield United this weekend.
DEF: Kurt Zouma (CHE) £5.2m
With Chelsea now looking solid at the back, getting one of their defenders in could prove rewarding.
This could an option for those not looking at Mendy, but many FPL mangers are also doubling up.
Zouma is now the highest-scoring defender in the game with 46 points and has kept three clean sheets in his last four matches.
He has also scored two goals at the other end over the same period.
DEF: Jannik Vestergaard (SOU) £4.6m
Southampton are another side that have looked good defensively.
They have kept three clean sheets in their last five games and Vestergaard has been a key part of that.
Like Zouma, Vestergaard is also chipping in with goals, scoring two in his last three outings.
The Saints are home to Newcastle this weekend.

MID: Jack Grealish (AVL) £7.4m
Only Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has scored more points than Grealish among FPL midfielders.
The Villa star has scored four goals and provided five assists in six gameweeks.
The trip to Arsenal this weekend could be tough but any Villa returns are likely to involve Grealish.
MID: Diogo Jota (LIV) £6.4m
Jota is in sensational form for Liverpool and he looks like he could be a valuable FPL asset.
The risk with the Portuguese star is how much he will start but with six goals in his last four games in all competitions, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Jurgen Klopp to leave him out.
Liverpool face Manchester City this weekend and the brave FPL manager managers could reap the rewards.
FWD: Callum Wilson (NEW) £6.5m
Wilson is proving himself to be a great budget forward this season.
He has scored six goals and provided two assists in the opening seven gameweeks.
Wilson is also the club’s penalty taker, making him all the more appealing.
The Magpies take on Southampton this weekend.
FWD: Jamie Vardy (LEI) £10.0m
Vardy has been an FPL favourite over the years and he should be back in consideration again.
He returned to the starting line-up against Leeds last weekend after a recent injury and rewarded his managers with a 14-point haul thanks to a goal and two assists.
The Foxes are at home to Wolves in Gameweek 8.
