Real Madrid have been accused of “poking the beehive” and providing Liverpool with a team talk for the Champions League final for wearing celebratory T-shirts following theirwin over Manchester City.
Real will play Liverpool in the final at the Parc des Princes on May 28 after producing a stunning late comeback to down City in the semi-final second leg at the Bernabeu. Riyad Mahrez’s 73rd-minute strike on the counter-attack appeared to be sending Pep Guardiola’s side through, with the score 5-3 on aggregate.
But Rodrygo had other ideas, converting Karim Benzema’s knock-down in the 90th minute and heading in Dani Carvajal’s cross a minute later to send the game into extra-time. Benzema then wrapped up another comeback win in the knockout stages by calmly burying a penalty following Ruben Dias’ foul on the Real striker.
In the aftermath of the dramatic win, Real’s players were given T-shirts to wear while they paraded around the stadium celebrating with their fans. The white tops, which read “A Por La” with the No14 on the back, referring to what would be the Spanish giants’ 14th Champions League triumph, caused quite the reaction on social media.
“Real Madrid players with the ‘Go for the 14’ shirts already printed. Jurgen Klopp’s pre-match team talk for the final in Paris is already done,” one fan noted. “Madrid wearing #14 shirts ???? don’t they know there’s another match?” added another.

“Those A Por La 14 shirts definitely aren’t going to come back to haunt Real Madrid at all,” tweeted a fan. "Real Madrid players really wearing shirts with number 14, like they already won their 14th UCL hmm,” wrote another. “Real Madrid wearing the number 14 shirt. That has just tightened the noose for them Liverpool don't need anymore incentives but they have just poked a bee hive,” added another.
But a few fans viewed it positively, saying it showed Real’s mentality for the big occasions. “Only Real Madrid have the audacity to bring ‘A Por La 14’ t-shirts and a tifo that says ‘another magical night for the king of the Europe’ despite being 4-3 down in the first leg against a team like Man City,” wrote one supporter. “Real Madrid already printed T-shirts with the caption ‘Onto the 14th’ before the game today. The level of belief. Damn damn damn,” added another.
Real’s T-shirts actually translate from Spanish to English as “All out for number 14”, meaning they are not being quite as over-confident as fans may think. But, having somehow come through ties against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Man City, despite being behind for long stretches in all of them, maybe their name is already on the famous trophy.
