Manchester United travel to Atalanta in the Champions League tonight as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Group F standings. The Red Devils completed a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat the Serie A side 3-2 at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been under huge pressure in recent weeks following a dismal run of form, with speculation about his future as United boss intensifying.

The Norwegian altered his formation on Saturday as his team travelled to Tottenham in the Premier League as he named a back three.

And it proved to be a masterstroke as United kept a clean sheet to win their first Premier League game since mid-September.

Solskjaer will be looking to build on that performance and could make only one change to his side for tonight’s encounter.

Express Sport looks at how Solskjaer’s side could line-up in Italy.

Goalkeeper – De Gea

David de Gea has been in inspired form this season and looks more like the keeper who was widely regarded as the best in the world a few years ago.

The Spain international has been a rock between the sticks and will keep his place against the Serie A side.

Defence – Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Varane, Maguire, Shaw

The Red Devils looked defensively sound at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the weekend, but Eric Bailly could come in for Victor Lindelof as Solskjaer’s only change from that game.

Solskjaer had success with his back three and will likely stick with that formation to shore up his defence over the next few weeks.

Bailly could therefore see his chances of starting games improve if he can jump above Lindelof in the pecking order.

The Ivory Coast international could line up alongside Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane, who both impressed against Spurs.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw will provide the width as United look for back-to-back victories over their Italian rivals.

Midfield – Fred, McTominay, Fernandes

Solskjaer has continued to put his faith in Fred and Scott McTominay in the centre of the pitch and he clearly trusts the duo to break up play and protect the back four.

Paul Pogba is available for tonight’s match but will likely have to settle for a place on the bench after he was sent off against Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes will be given licence to roam free and lay on the opportunities for United’s front two.

Fernandes created a staggering eight chances when Atalanta visited Old Trafford last month.

Forwards – Ronaldo, Cavani

Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani lined-up alongside each other in the frontline for the first time on Saturday and they duly rewarded their boss as they both found the back of the net.

Solskjaer will be reluctant to change his winning formula so expect to see both players involved from the start tonight.
