England medical staff checked on Harry Maguire’s progress on Friday as the Manchester United captain returned to Carrington for treatment.
The 28-year old missed United’s Europa League final defeat to Villarreal after failing to sufficiently recover from ankle ligament damage with Ole Gunnar Solskjær saying ‘he wasn’t ready’.
But Maguire is confident of making the European Championship in 16 days’ time.

England manager Gareth Southgate said he had been left in the dark regarding Maguire’s fitness despite naming him in his preliminary squad on Tuesday.
The £80million centre back was in for treatment on Friday morning along with team-mate Luke Shaw who injured his wrist during United’s Europa League final disappointment on Wednesday.
Both were checked on by United physios who spoke to their England counterparts to give updates on the duo’s fitness.

England boss Gareth Southgate said he had been kept in the dark regarding Maguire’s fitness
Maguire is undergoing further rehab at home and is expected back in Carrington on Monday for more treatment as he pushes to be fit for June 13 when England face Croatia in their European Championship opener.
Maguire has been the foundation of England’s defence and his rapport with John Stones is key to Southgate’s plans.
Southgate will rely heavily on Maguire for experience and leadership so will be monitoring his recovery closely and hoping for no further setbacks.
