Donny van de Beek will be denied loan return to Ajax as Man Utd have ‘big plans’

Donny van de Beek will reportedly be denied the chance to return Ajax on loan next with Manchester United ready to warn teams off the midfielder.

Van de Beek has hardly been seen on the pitch since his £35million move from the Dutch club – prompting speculation he could be on the move in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has only made two Premier League starts this season – in wins over Southampton and West Ham back in November.

Reports from Italy this week claimed the Netherlands international could used in a swap deal to bring Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo to Old Trafford.

But United have big plans for the midfielder and will reject any approaches for him, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer telling the 24-year-old to be patient as he waits for his chance.

That's according to a report from The Sun, which claims Ajax want to take Van de Beek back to Amsterdam on loan.

Any approach from the Dutch giants will be rebuffed, along with bids from any other clubs, the report claims.

Earlier this week, Italian outlet La Republic [via Roma News] reported that the midfielder could be used to land 21-year-old Zaniolo from Europa League semi-final opponents Roma.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been out of action throughout the season with an ACL injury, but has impressed during the last two seasons for the Giallorossi.

His performances saw the Red Devils consider a transfer battle with Tottenham last summer, with a previous injury also bringing the youngster’s price down.

Van de Beek did not make it off the bench in last Thursday's 6-2 win over Roma, and it would be a surprise if he made Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team for Sunday's Premier League showdown with Liverpool.

The midfielder may get a chance in next Thursday's second leg against the Italians, with United boasting a healthy lead as they target a first trophy under Solskjaer.
