Diogo Jota proves unpopular Jurgen Klopp decisions right vs Newcastle

Plenty of fans have been calling for Diogo Jota to start in place of Roberto Firmino for Liverpool, though Jurgen Klopp may have been proven right after all.

Reds star Jota started the season on fire having joined the reigning Premier League champions from Wolves last summer.

He missed over two months with a knee injury though Jota finally returned to action last month.

The Portuguese ace netted against former club Wolves and followed it up with a brace against Arsenal though has struggled since.

He was given a start against Newcastle, with Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah joining him in the line-up.

Though Jota was wasteful, failing to score from four chances as the Reds dominated possession against the Magpies.

It’s not the first time recently that Jota has been wasteful, failing to net from five attempts against both Leeds and Aston Villa.

Jota isn’t the only Liverpool star struggling in front of goal with Reds having not been at their best in recent weeks.

Though Jota is embracing the challenge of earning regular game time, recently saying: “Obviously the world was talking about them (the front three) because of the achievements of the team in general, so they can shine because they are the attacking trio.

“But then it's up to the manager to decide who will play, the system we will use. For example, the last game we changed the system, we played all four. So things can happen, we can play different systems.
