David Beckham confirms he wants Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi at Inter Miami

David Beckham has hinted that he could bring Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi to Miami.

The England legend’s Inter Miami franchise will be a new fixture in the MLS this season and they have plenty of cash to splash.

Rumours have been rife that a big-name arrival might be on the cards.

Both Messi and Ronaldo are still tearing things up in La Liga and Serie A respectively. However, the sporting superstars are also entering the twilight of their careers and are expected to weigh up options sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Beckham did little to quash the growing speculation.

"We've got great opportunities down in Miami," Beckham explained.

"We've been contacted by a lot of different players with possibly coming to join the team.

“As any owner, you really want the best players.

“And if we have the opportunity to bring in players like Cristiano or Leo Messi, I've got such admiration for them as athletes.

“If we can bring those players in, then great.”

Minnesota United manager Adrian Heath claimed earlier this week that Beckham’s new team will shake things up Stateside.

“That would be incredible for football in the USA and if anyone has the global profile to make that dream a reality then it has to be David Beckham,” Heath told The Mirror .

“It may not happen just yet, but I can see Ronaldo following in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard playing in the MLS.

“For Ronaldo and Messi, the two obvious destinations if they came to the MLS would be Los Angeles and Miami.

“And, with his links to both players and the plan Beckham and his backers have in place, I can really only see them going to Miami.”

Beckham left Manchester United just as Ronaldo joined the club in 2003.

Nevertheless, the duo know each other from footballing circles and Becks also played against Messi in La Liga on numerous occasions.
